The city of Las Vegas is actively seeking lifeguards, inviting individuals of all ages to apply for the position. While often associated with teenagers, the role offers a unique opportunity for adults as well. The job promises a chance to contribute positively to the community, maintain physical fitness, and build new relationships.
Applicants will enjoy various benefits such as flexible working hours, free membership to pool facilities, and the opportunity to impact community safety and wellness. The city also provides training and certification programs for those without prior experience. "We understand that life can be busy," states the city's announcement about flexible hours. This flexibility allows candidates to balance other commitments alongside their work.
Lifeguards employed by the city will receive complimentary access to fitness equipment, water exercise classes, and swimming pools at no cost. The role is described as meaningful, offering significant contributions to public safety and social engagement. Training programs are comprehensive and open for registration.
Professional development is emphasized within the city's organization, with opportunities for career advancement provided. An Aquatics Hiring Fair is scheduled at Pavilion Center Pool on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by another event at Municipal Pool on April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. These fairs allow applicants to complete interviews, swim tests, hiring processes, and onboarding in one location.
Positions available include around 50 lifeguard roles needed immediately or for summer (mid-May through September), along with water safety instructors, front desk assistants, and pool managers.
For those requiring lifeguard certification, monthly classes are available without deadlines for registration. These classes are free upon immediate hire after meeting completion requirements. Registration can be done in person at Pavilion Pool or Municipal Pool during business hours or online.
