Dina Titus, a long-serving U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district, has recently voiced her concerns over economic policies affecting both the national and local scales. Through a series of tweets, Titus addresses decisions and proposals from national leaders that she believes are detrimental to the American people, particularly in her home state of Nevada.

On April 2, 2025, Titus criticized the economic stance of former President Donald Trump. She stated, "Trump’s decision to apply reciprocal tariffs on our allies is irresponsible, worsening the economic damage already inflicted by @POTUS’s first wave of cuts and layoffs. The so-called “Liberation Day” will burden the American people with higher costs."

Later on April 2, Titus expressed her opposition to House Republicans' proposal to cut Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. She declared her support for fellow Representative Shontel Brown's legislative efforts by saying, "House Republicans want to cut SNAP benefits and take away nutrition assistance from those in need. I’m proud to cosponsor @RepShontelBrowns’s #HungerFreeFuture Act to protect the SNAP benefits of the 1.2 million households in Nevada who receive assistance."

In a continuation of her critique on tariffs, Titus pointed out the specific negative impacts on her state's economy at a later time that day. She highlighted, "We can already see Trump’s tariffs hurting the Southern Nevadan economy. With increased prices for materials like steel, lumber, and aluminum, commercial contractors and homebuilders are facing a tougher economic outlook, leading to more expensive housing."
