To shore up vaccinations, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has issued a state guideline to local businesses that will require venues to request proof of vaccination from all visitors.
Sisolak made his announcement Aug. 16, and the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders were quick in their response, stating that they will require proof of vaccination in accordance with the new law at all of the team’s home games, Reuters reported. For those who wish to shed the mask at public events, showing a vaccine card offers an alternative to mask-wearing.
“This new guideline option will require proof of vaccination for all attendees: fully vaccinated attendees will be able to go maskless, partially vaccinated will have to wear a mask and those who are unvaccinated will not be able to enter the venue,” National Licensing said in a statement on Twitter Aug. 18.
Vaccinations are increasingly becoming a requirement for attending public spaces, and a large number of colleges and employers are now requiring students and employees to get the vaccine. As these requirements become more commonplace, interest in COVID-19 vaccination passports is on the rise.
Tech company Clear announced a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders for use of its Health Pass app, which is intended to verify an account holder’s vaccine status. The app requires users to upload identity documents and proof of vaccination before providing a QR code that can be scanned at public venues that partner with the company, Las Vegas Sun reported.
The guideline only allows for those who are fully vaccinated to shed their mask at public venues. Children under the age of 12 who are unable to receive a vaccine, as well as those who are partially vaccinated, will have to mask up, Reuters reported.
