Dina Titus, a U.S. congressional representative for Nevada’s 1st District, has taken to social media to express her concerns on various matters of public interest. Titus, who succeeded Shelley Berkley in 2013, has actively voiced her opinion on issues ranging from government transparency to higher education and personal data privacy.
On April 15, 2025, Titus addressed the issue of transparency regarding the impact of layoffs and regional office closures within the U.S. General Services Administration’s Fine Arts Program. Titus stated, "I am demanding @USGSAStephenE transparency on the impact of layoffs and regional office closures @USGSA’s Fine Arts Program. I will work to ensure that this valuable collection of art is maintained for the public to enjoy."
Titus shifted her focus to the federal funding of higher education institutions on April 16, 2025. She criticized former President Trump, stating, "Trump continues his attack on higher education with threats to @Harvard’s federal funding. Instead of picking fights with critical institutions of learning, @POTUS should be focusing on making education more affordable." This comment underscores Titus's stance on the importance of supporting educational institutions.
Later that same day, April 16, 2025, Titus expressed concerns about privacy threats related to personal data held by the IRS. She remarked, "Even your @IRS information isn’t exempt from @DOGE’s eyes. This intrusion threatens your privacy, leaving sensitive data open to outsiders." The representative highlighted the vulnerabilities in data protection and the risks of unprotected sensitive information.
Dina Titus has held her congressional seat since 2013, succeeding Shelley Berkley. Prior to her current role, she served in the Nevada Senate for two decades participating in shaping state legislation. Titus, born in 1950 in Thomasville, Georgia, studied at the College of William & Mary, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
