Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, has made a controversial statement regarding recent attacks on Tesla vehicles. In a March 24 post on X, he said that Democrats will "turn to violence and terror" when they lose, referencing these incidents.
"When Leftists can't win by persuasion, they turn to violence and terror, such as vs Tesla," said Cortes, Founder of League of American Workers. "These terrorists must be punished severely!!!"
On March 18, 2025, a targeted attack occurred at a Tesla service center in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to reports, at least five vehicles were damaged, including two that were fully engulfed in flames. Others sustained gunshot damage; however, no injuries were reported. The fires were extinguished before reaching the vehicles' batteries. Similar attacks have been reported in Seattle, Kansas City, Austin, and Palm Beach. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement saying: "The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended." She warned that those involved in such acts against Tesla properties would face justice from the Department of Justice.

Cortes appeared on News Nation to discuss these events further. He argued that the perpetrators "need to be treated as terrorists," stating: "When you use violence and intimidation to try to force somebody into your ideology, that's a pretty good working definition of terrorism." Cortes also noted that these attacks were part of what he described as a "consistent pattern of the left," citing previous assassination attempts on President Trump and the riots of 2020.
According to the New York Post, during the Las Vegas incident, an assailant fired shots into Tesla vehicles and left behind an unignited Molotov cocktail. The word "RESIST" was spray-painted on the building, suggesting possible protest motives against CEO Elon Musk's political involvement. Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) commented: "I’d like to point out this was a targeted attack against a Tesla facility."
On March 25, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it had formed a task force to investigate these attacks against Tesla facilities. FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X: "This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice."
Steve Cortes serves as president of the League of American Workers and senior political advisor to Catholic Vote. He has previously worked as a senior advisor for President Trump and JD Vance and was also a commentator for Fox News and CNN.
