Join the city of Las Vegas for the Second Annual Parks for Pollinators: BioBlitz on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, located at 9200 Tule Springs Road.

The Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz is part of a national campaign sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association and The ScottsMiracle-Gro Foundation. Throughout September, parks nationwide will participate in a challenge to document as many pollinator species as possible. Participants are encouraged to join the project page and make observations using the iNaturalist app. "With the iNaturalist app, the online community will help identify the species of plant, animal or insect you've observed," stated organizers.

While the main event with exhibitors and STEM activities is set for September 14, participants can explore nature and wildlife at Floyd Lamb Park throughout September. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of local biodiversity and improve protection efforts for plants, pollinators, and other wildlife in the community.

To get involved in Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz:

- Download the iNaturalist app and create your profile.

- Join the city of Las Vegas Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz project page on iNaturalist.

- Visit Floyd Lamb Park on September 14 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., checking in at Base Camp located at Hay Barn and Lakeside Courtyard Gazebo.

- Engage in activities like BioBlitz Bingo, STEAM projects, games for prizes, and enjoy food trucks.

- Interact with community partners such as DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, Clark County Library District, Red Rock Audubon Society, Nevada Division of Forestry, Nevada Department of Wildlife, and Xerces Society of Invertebrate Conservation.

- Document observations by taking photos of pollinators, plants, and other wildlife throughout September.

- Upload observations to the city’s project page on iNaturalist.

- Review others' observations to elevate them to "Research Grade" status.

Organizers encourage residents to participate now by creating an account on iNaturalist and joining their project page.
