To help members of the community who have inquiries about the Biden-Harris administration's student loan debt forgiveness program, the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Clark County, Nevada, have teamed up to provide free informational sessions.
“As inflation continues to rise, student loan debt relief remains top of mind for many Southern Nevadans and we want to make certain our community understands all that is required to access this financial assistance during these challenging economic times,” Zachary Goodwin, executive director of financial aid at UNLV, said in an Oct. 21 news release.
The White House recently unveiled a plan to offer up to $20,000 in debt relief to Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 for other borrowers, the release stated.
The university will host seven workshops through Nov. 16. By December 2023, more than 500,000 Nevadans are anticipated to be eligible to apply for the relief program, according to the release.
The debt forgiveness program's eligibility requirements, as well as the application process will be covered at the workshops, the release stated. After the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask UNLV financial experts questions.
