The public will get to weigh in on the Rancho Drive study as the City of Las Vegas seeks feedback from residents on the project.

According to a news release shared by the Las Vegas government, two public scoping meetings on the project have been scheduled, which could lead to renovation of Rancho Drive and associated amenities that would maximize the safety of those who utilize the road.

“We are hoping to get as much input as possible on this important study that will determine if Rancho Drive can be made safer and more comfortable for the community,” Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear said.

The city will hold an in-person meeting on May 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nehemiah Ministries and a virtual meeting on May 26 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

While the safety of pedestrians is paramount to the project, the study will also determine how to efficiently use the roadway in order to maximize economic advantages, enhance physical traits and mitigate car emissions, according to the city.

Joining the city in providing an environmental assessment for a 6.6-mile portion of the Rancho Drive project will be the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, according to the release. Among the improvements being considered are offset sidewalks, three lanes in each direction and a shared bus/bike lane with alternate plans of the proposed renovation to be presented at a later date.
