Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak named Nelson Araujo as his infrastructure adviser, according to a release from the governor's office.
“I am excited for Nelson to take on this important role," Sisolak said. "His talent and expertise, combined with his deep knowledge of state and federal processes make him perfect for this role."
Araujo started his new job April 11, the release said.
He will work across all agencies and levels of government to ensure the state is competitive in obtaining and implementing federal dollars from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The state is getting more than $4 billion in cash, with most of the money going to highway programs.
“I am humbled and honored to join Gov. Sisolak’s team to help continue driving Nevada’s economy forward," Araujo said, according to the release. "As a lifelong Nevadan, I look forward to working hard on behalf of the people of Nevada to implement strong, sustainable infrastructure initiatives that will benefit our state for generations to come.”
Araujo started his career in public service in 2007, under U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the release said. In 2011, he joined the Financial Guidance Center, creating a statewide program for connecting Nevada residents to housing resources. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
