The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles reported a jump in electric vehicle registrations over the past two years.
The amount of vehicles registered in the Silver State has increased from 7,381 electric vehicles in 2019 to to 17,162 last year, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
"More Nevadans are going green!" Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak wrote in a Feb. 8 Twitter post. "Advancing climate-forward policies and programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality are more critical than ever to ensure a healthy, sustainable future for Nevada."
The Clean Cars Nevada regulation seeks to decrease reduce vehicle-related emissions while increasing opportunities for Nevadans to electric vehicles starting in 2024.
"Clean Cars Nevada is a huge victory for the Silver State," Sisolak said in a statement, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. "Transportation is the number one source of greenhouse gas emissions in Nevada and drives disproportionate pollution burdens for historically underserved communities.
"As Nevada continues to grapple with the many impacts of climate change — including record-breaking heatwaves, drought and massive wildfires across the West — advancing climate-forward policies and programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality are more critical than ever to ensure a healthy, sustainable future for Nevada."
Electric vehicles are getting famous worldwide, and the state is pushing the producers to have more environmentally friendly vehicles available for purchase.
