Commissioners Naft, Jones to Host Jan. 29 'Coffee & Conversation'

Clark City recently issued the following announcement.

Prior to the redrawing of boundaries for Clark County Commission districts, the Anthem and Inspirada communities were represented solely by Commissioner Michael Naft. That changed Nov. 17, when parts of those areas moved into the district of Commissioner Justin Jones.

The two commissioners will co-host a “Coffee and Conversation” event aimed primarily at Anthem and Inspirada residents on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Romano Mercato at 2016 Via Firenze #110 in Henderson. The event is free and open to everyone, regardless of where they live in Clark County.

The boundaries between the two districts – Naft’s District A and Jones’s District F – were changed at the Nov. 2 County Commission meeting and the changes went into effect Nov. 17.

“As the new commissioner for some of these residents, it’s important that I hear directly from them so that I know exactly what their concerns are and how we might work to resolve them,” said Commissioner Jones.

“Keeping the lines of communication open is a priority,” said Commissioner Naft. “It is always gratifying meeting with neighbors, hearing their concerns, and discussing solutions. With redistricting, residents in Anthem and Inspirada now have not just one advocate, but two.”

The redistricting process is undertaken every 10 years following the national Census in order to comply with state law, which requires Commission districts to be nearly equal in population. Rapid growth in population over the last decade has resulted in great variations in population across the County’s seven Commission districts.
