Clark City recently issued the following announcement.
Today, Clark County announced the appointment of the new County Counsel, Lisa Logsdon.
Logsdon has been with the Office of the Clark County District Attorney’s Civil Division since June 2009. Originally from Canton, MO, she received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2004 and a Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 2009 where she graduated with honors.
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson chose Ms. Logsdon to replace retiring County Counsel Mary-Anne Miller, who has been with the office since 1985, and was appointed to the position of County Counsel in 1997. Ms. Miller became the first woman to serve as the Clark County District Attorney when she was appointed to the position on an interim basis in early 2012 and she was also the first female Clark County Counsel.
“The retirement of Mary-Anne Miller is a great loss to our office. She has been a strong and stable part of the Civil division throughout her entire career, especially since becoming County Counsel. Since I took office in 2012, I have relied on Mary-Anne’s institutional knowledge, her calm and practical approach to all matters before her, and her strong dedication to this very important role. Personally, I will miss having her as a part of my executive team,” said Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson. “With that said, I am looking forward to having Lisa take the helm. She has big shoes to fill, but I chose her for this position because I am confident that she is capable of taking on this great challenge and has the skills and experience to lead our Civil division into the future.”
The position of County Counsel oversees the Civil division of the Office of the Clark County District Attorney and the 15 attorneys and 8 support staff assigned to that division. This division provides the defense of all civil suits brought against Clark County and
against former officers and employees based on actions related to their public duties; initiates civil actions for abatement of nuisances; prosecutes civil actions by the County as directed by the Clark County Commission; provides legal opinions to all County officers related to their offices and respective duties; and attends all meetings of the Clark County Commission to render legal opinions on questions that arise during those meetings.
Ms. Miller’s last day in the office is Friday, Jan. 14. Ms. Logsdon will assume the role on Monday, Jan. 17.
