A Reno man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for coercion and enticement of a minor. United States District Judge Miranda M. Du handed down the sentence, which includes 20 years of supervised release, to Gregory Weeks, aged 37.
Court documents reveal that in March 2023, Weeks engaged in sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old boy and sent nude videos of himself. The communications included plans for sexual encounters at a hotel in Reno. Weeks traveled from Utah to Reno, picked up the victim near his home, and took him to a hotel where they engaged in sexual activities.
Weeks pleaded guilty to one count of coercion and enticement in July 2024. In addition to imprisonment, he was ordered to pay $6,150 in restitution to the victim. Upon release from prison, Weeks must register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada and Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI-led Northern Nevada Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. This task force includes members from the Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Attorney General’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Assistant United States Attorney Megan Rachow prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Justice Department in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. It brings together federal, state, and local resources to apprehend individuals exploiting children via the internet while also identifying victims.
