Community celebrates Parks and Recreation Month with diverse events throughout July

The community is set to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with a series of events throughout July. The lineup offers activities for various age groups and interests, ensuring everyone can participate.

Starting on July 1, local community centers will host a drawing where families can win Discover the Fun passes and a basket of goodies. Entries are open until July 9, with winners announced on July 18.

Adaptive Recreation will hold Crazy Art Tuesdays from July 2 to July 30, designed for individuals with diverse abilities to improve social and motor skills through art. Supplies are included in the $35 fee.

On July 3, the Doolittle Active Adult Center will have Red, White & Blue Hot Dog Day for those aged 50 and above. Meanwhile, Yankee Doodle at the Pool events will take place at Baker Pool or Garside Pool.

Independence Day on July 4 encourages visits to local parks for fireworks viewing, though open flames are prohibited.

Family Fun Night at the Veterans Memorial Community Center is scheduled for July 5, featuring a screening of “The Sandlot” and whiffle ball games.

From July 8-12, Becker Technology Center will offer a week-long 3D and Print Design Camp for $290 per week. Financial assistance is available for qualifying participants.

Women’s WooSah Wednesdays begin on July 10 at Stupak Community Center with crafts and workshops focused on women's health.

Pickleball demos are available at Chuck Minker Sports Complex starting July 11 during weekday mornings.

Charleston Heights Arts Center hosts an Open Art Studio on July 13, offering guided lessons by artist Mary Homan.

Recreation on the Go bags will be distributed by Cimarron Rose Community Center from July 15-25 while supplies last.

Lieburn Active Adult Center introduces a Foam Rolling class for older adults on July 16. Participants should bring their own foam roller and mat.

Parks and Recreation Professionals Day falls on July 18, encouraging residents to thank local professionals in the field.

Rainbow Company Youth Theatre Summer Camp offers a theatre intensive concluding with a presentation on July 19 at Charleston Heights Arts Center.

A Back-to-School Fair is planned at Doolittle Community Center on July 20 with school supplies and entertainment available without registration requirements.

Charleston Heights Arts Center's Contemporary West Dance Theatre begins its two-week Choreographic Workshop starting July 22.

Babysitters Training sessions occur from July 26-27 at Pavilion Center Pool for youths aged 11-15, focusing on childcare skills for $75.

Finally, West Las Vegas Arts Center presents Rebirth Volume II as part of its Performing and Visual Arts Camp production on July 27 at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

The month promises numerous opportunities to engage in recreational activities across different venues within the community.
