A library card can open a world of knowledge and opportunities. Of course, you’ll find worlds to be explored, new languages to learn, and recipes to try. Today’s libraries offer so much more than just borrowing books. They’ve become places that offer a variety of resources and experiences. You could start a new hobby, view art galleries, or have access to online resources.

Here are five things that might surprise you that a library card can give you access to:

1 - Creative Bug

An online resource that provides more than 1,000 video classes for do-it-yourself-based activities. Whether you’re wanting to learn how to knit, paint, sew or craft, there is unlimited access to learn to your heart's content.

2 - Digital Memory Preservation Labs

The digital memory preservation lab provides equipment for you to convert movies, photographs and more into newer formats.

3 - Health Kits

These health kits can be checked out for seven days at a time and include:

- Pulse oximeter

- IR Thermometer

- Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor

4 - Museum & Park Passes

There are four different passes that are available through the library:

- Discovery Children's Museum Family Adventure Pass

- Nevada State Parks Pass

- Springs Preserve Family Pass

- STEM Saturdays Neon Museum Family Pass

Each pass allows you free admission into the corresponding museum or state parks.

5 - Toy Lending

Not only can you check out books and movies, but did you know that you can also check out toys? There is an array of toys to choose from:

- American Girl dolls

- Shape sorters

- Farms and animals

- Board games

- STEM activities

To have access to these services and many more, head to your local library to sign up for a free library card!
