The AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA programs are seeking individuals interested in making a difference in their communities while earning a living stipend and education award. Participants can earn up to a $20,020 stipend and $5,175.50 education award, though service hours, stipends, and awards vary based on position and successful completion of the program.

AmeriCorps engages more than 200,000 Americans annually by helping local organizations expand capacity and make change. Members provide vital community services such as youth education interventions, college and career support for young adults, connecting families to resources, and addressing other critical needs.

The City of Las Vegas is currently recruiting 64 members for start dates in September 2024 across various areas including education initiatives like Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K and social initiatives such as the Youth Fire Prevention Program.

For those looking to kickstart their professional careers, the City of Las Vegas AmeriCorps VISTA Program offers opportunities to tackle issues like chronic absenteeism and literacy. The program also involves coordinating administrative projects such as data management and communications development.

Eligibility requirements include being at least 18 years old with some college education or a degree, and being a U.S. Citizen, National or Permanent Legal Resident. Benefits include up to $22,882 living allowance for a one-year service term, an education award up to $7,395 upon completion of service year, federal student loan forbearance or deferment, ongoing training, and professional development.
