Southern Nevada continues to grow with a recent population projection to be 3.39 million by 2060.
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Center for Business and Economic Research announced the findings in a report that the region will grow by 1.8% this year, with an additional 41,900 people, according to a news release provided by the university.
“All of the data that makes up the population forecast paints a picture of what our community will look like in the next several decades and the opportunities and challenges that come with it,” CBER Director Andrew Woods said.
Moreover, Clark County's population is anticipated to grow by 698,000 people by 2040, which would put the area over 3 million. Southern Nevada is expected to grow for the foreseeable future as the area recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. The growth is a reflection of a dynamic economy, infrastructure developments and the appeal of the region as a tourist destination.
“The report has proven to be a helpful guide in making proactive planning decisions that have saved taxpayers money and resources in a variety of ways such as upfront investments in water policy and infrastructure that has allowed Southern Nevada to reduce total water consumption while continuing to add new residents,” Woods said.
