Little Free Libraries encourage reading where books are scarce.es | Little Free Library
Just in time for Nevada Reading Week, three new Little Free Libraries opened in Las Vegas, KLAS reported.
"Happy Nevada Reading Week! If you're looking for a book to read with your child this week in Las Vegas, there are now 16 Little Free Libraries across the city. Remember, take a book, leave a book,’’ U.S. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) tweeted.
The Nevada Reading Week started on Feb. 28 and ended on March 5. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new little libraries was held Feb. 28, with the ceremony conducted by Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear, Nevada Prince Hall Masonic Foundation and Nevada Youth Network.
The Little Free Library Initiative began in 2018 to encourage reading in areas where books are scarce, the station said. The Little Libraries are provide 24-7 access to books.
New locations are Nevada Youth Network at Sherman Gardens, 910 Weaver Drive, Nevada Youth Network at Marble Manor, 909 Morgan Ave, and Howard Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave.
Worldwide, there are 125,000 Little Free libraries, according to the non-profit organization, Little Free Library.
