College of Southern Nevada Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

The College of Southern Nevada Athletic Department is transitioning into postseason play.

Men's Soccer: The Coyotes are preparing to open the postseason this weekend, traveling to face No. 1 Salt Lake Community College in the Region 18 tournament.

CSN and the Bruins will play in the opening round of the Region 18 tournament on Thursday, playing at 8:30 a.m. Salt Lake swept CSN in both matches this season, including a 4-0 loss last Thursday.

Coyotes coach Yancey Tisdale said Salt Lake will provide a strong challenge.

"I feel like we have a lot of work to do as we have dug ourselves a little bit of a hole in the season standings," he said. "We have managed to stay in the postseason hunt and if we show up with a purpose, then anything is possible."

Tisdale noted the postseason allows his team to focus easily.

"At this point, it's lose and go home," he said. "The only thing that's important is winning, as we can focus on everything else after the playoffs."

Women's Soccer: The Lady Coyotes also entered the Region 18 postseason as the No. 4 team, in preparation of facing off against host Snow College.

The Lady Coyotes fell both times on the year to the Lady Badgers, who finished in the NJCAA's semifinals last season. CSN ended the regular season at 6-11, on a two-match losing streak.

Southern Nevada coach Jocelyn Roach said her team is well aware of the challenges coming their way.

"I feel good about our team going into the postseason," she said. "We escaped league play with very few injuries, and I think that's big for going into the postseason, with everyone being healthy."

Volleyball: The College of Southern Nevada Volleyball program will close the 2021 regular season at home this weekend, hosting a pair of longtime Scenic West Athletic Conference foes.

CSN will host both the College of Southern Idaho and No. 6 Salt Lake Community College, with the Lady Coyotes facing SLCC in the program's 'Sophomore Day' on Saturday. Both games will be played inside the CSN Sports Center.

Southern Nevada coach Jessica Diehl said the expectation for her team is to finish the season strong against good competition.
