Clark City issued the following announcement.
A pilot program offering $100 gift cards to people who get vaccinated will offer the incentive to those eligible for first or second doses on Saturday, Sept. 18, and Sunday, Sept. 19, at Eldorado High School at 1139 N. Linn Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89110. (See flyers in English and Spanish.)
The pop-up clinic is offering vaccinations in one of the Las Vegas Valley’s highest ZIP codes for COVID-19 cases near Nellis Boulevard and Washington Avenue, and will operate in the school’s gym on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Up to 500 people each day will receive $100 gift cards at the clinic whether receiving a first or second dose. Some walk-in clients will be accommodated on both days. In addition, some appointments are available at https://vax4nv.nv.gov. Clients who book appointments must arrive within a half-hour of their appointment time or forfeit their gift cards. The vaccines are free. Pfizer will be available for those 12 and older with parental consent. The Moderna and single-dose Janssen vaccine also is available for anyone age 18 and older. Gift cards will be available while supplies last.
“With more employers mandating COVID-19 vaccinations, people have a great opportunity this weekend to get your shot and take home $100,” said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a member of the Southern Nevada Health District Board of Health who spearheaded the gift card pilot program effort, which was approved by the Clark County Commission. “We want to expand the pilot program to offer a $100 gift card to those receiving their first or second shot because it’s important for people to be fully vaccinated. We appreciate the School District’s partnership in hosting these clinics, especially in neighborhoods hit hardest by the pandemic.”
“The availability of gift cards will provide an added incentive for people to get their COVID-19 vaccinations this weekend,” said Commissioner William McCurdy II. “We will continue to be creative in our efforts to boost vaccination rates and ensure the health and safety of our community.”
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and highly effective at preventing serious illness. A list of locations offering vaccinations can be found on the Health District’s website at www.snhd.info/covid-vaccine or by calling the state’s vaccine hotline at 1-800-401-0946, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Additionally, COVID-19 testing remains an important part of the community’s efforts to limit the spread of the virus. COVID-19 testing information is available at www.snhd.info/covid-testing and on the Nevada Health Response website at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/find-covid-19-testing-in-nevada/. People who have symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, are encouraged to get tested and to stay home if they are sick.
