First Baptist Church issued the following announcement on June 13.
Where does my strength come from?
Isaiah 40:28 (NKJV)
Everything that you and I do takes energy from us and causes our energy level to decline. While there are some people who “appear” to have unlimited energy, nobody really does. The older we get, the more we “should” realize we can’t do some of the things we did when we were younger. I frequently find myself in denial [not the river] about my strength and abilities. However, reality sets in and I realize that I’m only a legend in my own mind. But the power of God is never diminished. When He exercises His great power on behalf of anyone or anything, all of His power is still at the same level. He is never tired.
He has the power not only to bring things into existence but to keep them out of existence as well. I have conceived a lot of things in my mind that God, in His wisdom and by His grace, has kept me from having. He has the power to do both. So every day I need to end my prayer saying, “Lord, I know that, first of all, You are in control. Thank You. My life may seem out of control, but you are not. You are in control.” The throne in heaven is not empty. God is there, seated, and in sovereign control. He said a word and the worlds were made. He spoke and the moon and stars were flung out into space. He’s an awesome, almighty, powerful God.
Isaiah said, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary (Isaiah 40:28). You don’t need to wait and give God a chance to rest up. As a child of God you can go to Him at any time and know that all of His power is available to you.

Pastor Bruce
