The Department of Public Safety in Las Vegas offers law enforcement and detention services for the city. This department oversees the city jail and includes deputy city marshals who ensure public safety at parks and facilities, as well as Animal Protection Services.
In honor of Black History Month, the city of Las Vegas held the 10th Annual African American Trailblazer Service Awards ceremony on January 25, 2024. The city of Las Vegas Department of Public Safety is offering a Citizens Police Academy aimed at fostering better relations between citizens and the police department. The academy will take place on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., starting August 28 and running through November 13, 2024.
