The city of Las Vegas emphasizes the importance of supporting residents and businesses, recognizing their crucial role in the prosperity of the 18b Arts District and the broader downtown area. To this end, several measures have been implemented to aid local enterprises.

In response to a series of copper thefts within the city, the Las Vegas City Council enacted an ordinance on September 4, 2024. The legislation aims to deter copper wire theft by making it illegal to purchase scrap metal or seven-strand utility wire within city limits unless it has been transported using a motor vehicle and accompanied by proper documentation and payment verification.

Since October 2022, more than 100 miles of copper wire have been either stolen or damaged, costing over one million dollars in time and materials for repairs.

Additionally, the 'Problem Oriented Policing' Team, known as the 'P.O.P. Team,' plays a significant role in supporting local businesses in the Arts District. These officers prioritize building relationships within the community, consistently engaging with business owners to understand their concerns and needs. The P.O.P. Team also works with the unhoused population, connecting them to resources such as the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center.
