A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police detective has been arrested over a driving incident in which he drew his gun, according to a news release from the department.
The department reported that Detective Colin Snyder, 32, was involved in a confrontation in a neighborhood near the North Buffalo Drive and Regatta Drive intersection.
“After the initial interaction, Snyder drove his privately owned vehicle to his residence and returned in his assigned unmarked police vehicle to the citizen’s location,” the news release states. “The situation further escalated and Snyder drew his firearm on the citizen.”
As the department examined the case, LVMPD detectives concluded that Snyder had broken the law and issued an arrest warrant.
Snyder turned himself in to police and was placed in the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of oppression under the color of law, according to the release.
Snyder has been a member of LVMPD since 2016 and works for the department’s Theft Crimes Bureau, according to the release. As the department confirms his charges, he is currently suspended from LVMPD without pay.
