A Mexican-themed bar has opened its doors in the downtown Arts District.

According to a news release from the Las Vegas government, Misterio Mezcal opened up for operations on April 21, 2022, and is expected to add to the ambiance of the Arts District.

Constructed in the ShareDOWNTOWN luxury homes building, the bar serves mezcal, a handmade agave liquor native to Mexico, along with a vast assortment of area beers and tequilas, according to the release. Misterio Mezcal is operated by José Sánchez and Anna Domínguez, Las Vegas locals who wanted to own a bar where everyone is embraced.

"We want to be a neighborhood bar where you can just go and hang out, have a drink or two, watch a game, and make some friends along the way," Sanchez said.

According to the release, the bar’s menu will be based on empanadas, tacos, ceviches and salsas

"The main focus is the bar, but I know when you come to a bar you want to have a snack," said Dominguez. "So, we offer a variety of tapas and serve a bit of everything."

Dominguez and Sanchez added that other businesses have been more than welcoming to the bar.

"On our first-day opening, our first customers were the owners down the street," said Dominguez. "It was just a nice thing, a warm welcoming. Our neighbor right next door, he's the one that did our murals; it's just a big family here; we couldn't be happier."
