In order for Nevada to fulfill its potential, small business and education will spearhead the growth of the state, according to Nevada Lt. Gov. Lisa Cano Burkhead.

Gov. Steve Sisolak recently took to Twitter to write that the state is an ideal place for small business.

“Great to see @LGCanoBurkhead lay out her vision for the Office of Small Business Advocacy in the State of Nevada in the @LasVegasSun over the weekend,” he wrote. "Nevada is a place for business."

Burkhead made her trek to Las Vegas from South America in order to pursue her endeavors and “the American dream” before becoming lieutenant governor of Nevada.

“While so many people think of Nevada as the glitz and glamor of the Las Vegas Strip, the reality is there are nearly 300,000 small businesses in the state, comprising more than half a million employees,” Burkhead said in a guest column publishing by Vegas Inc. “Supporting small-business owners is vital to Nevada’s economic growth and resiliency.”

In order for Nevada to achieve its objectives citizens need to keep working to support small businesses, Burkhead said. She shared her history in order to show others that if they put in the effort, they can accomplish their goals.

“Rejuvenation of small business has reflected Nevada’s recovery from the pandemic. Nevada in 2021 had more small businesses than it did in 2019,” Burkhead said. “We’re coming back stronger than we were, and small businesses are leading the way.”
