City of Las Vegas recently issued the following announcement.

Las Vegas City Council will meet on Wednesday, March 2, at 9 a.m. Below are some agenda items that may be of interest. Get the agenda. Watch live at kclv.tv/live.

Agenda Item 10 – Replacement Street Sweepers: City Council will vote on a contract for the purchase of six TYMCO regenerative air sweepers to replace city-owned vehicles per our vehicle replacement policy. This item is exempt from the competitive bidding process pursuant to NRS 332.195, which allows local governments to use the contracts of other local governments with the authorization of the contracting vendor.

Agenda Item 14 – Historic Preservation Initiatives: City Council will vote on a grant agreement in the amount of $75,000.00 from the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial to support historic commemoration and preservation initiatives, with the following components: (a) support for surveys of historic districts, neighborhoods and landmarks; (b) educational awards focused on historic preservation; (c) oral history projects; (d) public awareness campaigns; (e) funding for the production and installation of plaques and markers for historic properties; (f) award grants for the research, documentation and preservation of Las Vegas’ historic resources; and (g) engage in other related preservation activities within the scope of the Historic Preservation Commission’s authority. This grant requires City Council approval due to being over $50,000.00 pursuant to the CM 501-Grant Application and Management Policy/Procedure.

Agenda Item 22 – AmeriCorps Program Expansion: City Council will vote on a planning grant from Nevada Volunteers in the amount of $42,241 for initial funding to support current staff in developing a needs assessment for multiple departments within the municipality, collaborate with community partners to assess the needs of the community, and develop a meaningful data collection plan for performance measures assuring adequate systems for successful implementation of AmeriCorps Program expansion. The Nevada Volunteers investment of $42,241 will be matched with RDA Education Set-Aside funding in the amount of $13,013 which is a 24% match. The project period and the budget period are for the 7-month period of time, based on Nevada Volunteers’ Grant Award from the Corporation. The 7-month period of time is from Feb. 1 up to and including Aug. 31, 2022.

Agenda Item 32 – Economic and Urban Development Report: This report will highlight current and planned projects of the Department, including Redevelopment, Business Development, Parking Services, and major projects.
