The number of daily COVID-19 positivity rates in Nevada rose for the first time since Aug. 8, according to a Sept. 2 COVID-19 report.
Test positivity rose from 12.2% to 12.3%, 8 News Now reported. Nevada reported 1,407 active COVID-19 cases, with Clark County accounting for 748, around 53%, of the state’s total cases.
“States with the smallest increase in COVID cases in last 2 months: Nevada Missouri Utah Arkansas Colorado Louisiana Arizona Iowa,” Twitter user Honey Badger wrote in a Sept. 4 post.
Nevada managed to decrease COVID-19 test positivity rates and transmission by implementing mask guidelines based on the transmission rate within individual counties, KTNV News reported.
The Clark County School District made masks a requirement for students and staff early, which also contributed to the decrease in transmissions.
"Our largest school district, in Clark County, requiring masks for the staff and students at the beginning of the school year," Candice McDaniel, the deputy director of programs for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, said according to KTNV News. "And then on top of that, I would say we've always been supporting our immunization efforts, some really strong collaborative work, especially in Clark County, but also up in the north."
