The University of Nevada, Las Vegas vice provost for information technology has been honored with an award for her creative contributions.
A university news release reports that Lori Temple has been awarded the 2022 Top Tech of the Year Award. The 2022 Top Tech Awards are backed by Cox Business and Vegas Inc. and identify Southern Nevada’s leading technologists for their contributions to the area. Temple was one of 12 IT professionals from various businesses honored Nov. 16 at Allegiant Stadium.
“I have a special place in my heart for all the students, faculty and staff who have, with a few exceptions, mostly tolerated all of the technological advances that have been introduced over the last two and a half decades,” Temple said during her acceptance speech, according to the release. “Ultimately, their paths have been made easier as a result of those advances.”
Temple’s UNLV career spans 40 years, and she has been the vice provost for the Office of Information Technology since 1998, leading roughly 150 university employees who provide IT services and support to both students and workers.
She received the award for leading technical advancement at the school including 75 new and renovated buildings that needed technology infrastructure. Among the buildings that highlighted at the event were the Lied Library and a simulation facility for nursing school.
Aside from enhancing technology within school buildings, Temple also was revered for implementing a technology system that helped the school stay online during the pandemic and hosting the 2016 presidential debate.
