Las Vegas police investigate Tesla Cyber Truck explosion

On January 1, 2025, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a vehicle explosion involving a Tesla Cyber Truck at a hotel property on Fashion Show Drive. One person was found deceased in the vehicle, and seven others sustained minor injuries. The incident is under joint investigation with federal partners as detectives work to uncover the motive and further details.

In an effort to enhance public safety, the city of Las Vegas has installed 22 cameras across 11 locations downtown near the Fremont Street Experience and major thoroughfares.

Residents interested in community safety are invited to register for two Citizens Academies focused on police and fire services.

In 2024, Las Vegas approved $2.3 billion in construction projects. These developments included permits for new constructions and remodels ranging from residential homes and apartment buildings to commercial projects, pools, and spas.

The City of Las Vegas is offering "No-School Fun Days" for youth from kindergarten through eighth grade during Clark County School District staff development days this winter and spring on January 27, February 10, April 18, and April 28. The program promises all-day supervised fun, recreation, and enrichment activities.
