A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on East Flamingo Road east of Paradise Road, according to a March 10 release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:33 AM on March 9, when a 2014 Hyundai Accent traveling eastbound on Flamingo Road hit a pedestrian who was crossing outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. Evidence from the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance indicated that the pedestrian entered the path of the Hyundai before being struck and projected east onto the roadway.
Medical personnel transported the pedestrian, identified as a 57-year-old male from Las Vegas, to Sunrise Hospital with substantial injuries. Upon arrival at the hospital, his injuries were determined to be life-threatening. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Domenico Del Giudice, age 23 and also from Las Vegas, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said there were no signs of impairment in connection with the driver.
The Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. The name of the injured pedestrian has not been released pending notification.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information about this collision to contact law enforcement as they continue their investigation.
