A 10-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle on East Charleston Boulevard, east of 28th Street, in Las Vegas on the evening of March 5, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 6:48 p.m.
Police said that evidence from the scene, along with witness statements and video surveillance footage, showed that a 2023 Nissan Murano was traveling westbound in the left lane when the pedestrian ran northbound across Charleston Boulevard outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. The front of the Nissan hit the pedestrian, projecting him onto the roadway.
Emergency medical services transported the child to UMC-Trauma Center. Despite efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Christopher Lee, age 34 and a resident of Las Vegas, remained at the scene. Police stated that Lee showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with investigators.
“The pedestrian’s death marks the 25th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2026. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section,” according to a statement from police.
No further details about the identity of the victim have been released pending notification of next of kin.
