The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced on May 8 that the vehicle involved in a hit and run collision at East Charleston Boulevard and North Mojave Road has been located, but the driver remains outstanding. The incident is under investigation by the department’s Collision Investigation Section.

The case concerns a collision that occurred around 3:00 a.m. on May 2, when an unknown dark-colored SUV struck a pedestrian who was walking a dog across Charleston Boulevard in a marked crosswalk. According to evidence at the scene and surveillance video, the pedestrian was crossing against the traffic control signal when he entered the path of an SUV traveling westbound. The front of the SUV collided with the right side of the pedestrian, projecting him forward onto the roadway. The driver did not remain at the scene.

Medical personnel transported the injured pedestrian to UMC Trauma Center, where he was admitted with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said identification of both parties remains pending.

Police urge anyone with information about this incident to contact their Collision Investigation Section or Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips. “Tips directly leading to a felony arrest, or an indictment processed through Crime Stoppers, may result in a cash reward,” according to officials.

The investigation is ongoing as officers continue efforts to identify and locate those involved.
