Las Vegas police arrest suspect in shooting deaths of woman and toddler

Detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) have identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a double homicide that occurred on March 2, 2026. According to authorities, 22-year-old Ziaire Ham was located by the Ogden City Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol on March 3, 2026. He was taken into custody and is currently held at Weber County Jail on charges out of Utah. Ham will face charges of Open Murder with the Use of Deadly Weapon and will be extradited to Las Vegas.

On the evening of March 2, LVMPD patrol officers were conducting a vehicle stop near Starr Avenue and Interstate 15 when they heard gunfire in the vicinity. At the same time, multiple reports of gunshots were received by LVMPD Communications from the area. Officers searched nearby neighborhoods and found a vehicle with several bullet holes in the 11000 block of Victoria Medici Street. Inside the vehicle, police discovered a woman and a toddler suffering from gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel transported both victims to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The LVMPD Homicide Section responded to the scene and has taken over the investigation. The identification of those killed, along with their cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
