Las Vegas police arrest suspect in fatal shooting on Missouri Avenue

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced on April 17 that detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on April 10, 2026. Nineteen-year-old Elijah Harris was taken into custody on April 16 and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges of open murder with a deadly weapon, attempt robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The incident took place at approximately 6:29 p.m. in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found a male inside a vehicle that had collided with a building. The individual was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

According to police, three male suspects approached the victim while he was sitting in his vehicle. After a brief interaction, one of the suspects began shooting at the victim, who then attempted to flee but crashed his car into a nearby structure. The suspects left the area before officers arrived.

The case is being investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section. Authorities stated that information regarding the decedent’s identity as well as cause and manner of death can be obtained through the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
