The city of Las Vegas is offering a range of recreation programs designed for veterans and adults with diverse abilities. These programs aim to support physical health, emotional well-being, and social connection among participants.

The available activities include group pool therapy, adaptive cycling, pickleball, gardening, esports, golf, bowling, camping, canoeing, hiking, skiing, and rock climbing. The city provides several membership options such as the Veterans Pass, Disabled Veterans Pass—which is grant funded—and Outdoor Rec Pass. Each pass grants access to different sets of activities and resources led by experienced staff.

“Let us show you our appreciation for your service. With this pass, you will have the opportunity to participate in as little or as many of our recreation programs as you wish. These programs include fitness gym, fitness classes (strength & conditioning, zumba, yoga), pickleball, bowling, golf, gardening and eSports! This pass is grant funded. Memberships are limited,” said Andrea Anzalone regarding the Disabled Veterans Pass.

The Outdoor Rec Pass allows adults 18 and older with diverse abilities to take part in outdoor activities like cycling and hiking. Ashlynn Werner provided contact information for those interested in learning more about these offerings.

For veterans seeking a broader range of experiences across all new recreation options—including gym workouts and gardening—the Veterans Pass is available. “Let us show you our appreciation for your service. With this pass…you will find there is something for everyone,” said Anzalone.

Specific adaptive trips such as outdoor adventures are also organized for adults with diverse abilities to promote healthy lifestyles and independence through educational outings.

Weekly adaptive cycling sessions take place at Wayne Bunker Park using hand cycles and recumbent trikes provided by the program on a limited basis.

Disabled veterans can join specialized bowling leagues at Santa Fe Hotel & Casino or participate in eight-week golf sessions at Las Vegas Golf Club; both require the Disabled Veterans Pass. Strength training classes tailored for disabled veterans are offered at Dula Community Center using free weights and cardio equipment.

Outdoor adventure hikes cater to individuals at any skill level with guidance from experienced leaders exploring local areas around Las Vegas.

Pickleball instruction is also available at Dula Community Center under the supervision of experienced instructors: “Pickleball is easy to learn…the best aspect of Pickleball is anyone can play!”

Additional adaptive classes focus on eSports—providing a supportive environment that may help veterans cope with challenges like PTSD or anxiety—and gardening courses that offer therapeutic benefits while building social ties among participants.

Those interested in participating or seeking further details can contact Andrea Anzalone or Ashlynn Werner through the provided email addresses or phone numbers listed by the city’s Parks & Recreation department.
