The city of Las Vegas announced on March 11 that residents can join pickleball leagues, drop-in games, or skills classes at city courts this spring.
Pickleball is gaining popularity in Las Vegas, offering opportunities for people of all ages to participate. The sport combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. City officials say the spring season is open for new players and returning enthusiasts alike.
Las Vegas currently offers multiple locations for pickleball play. Courts are available at Centennial Hills Park (two courts), Durango Hills Park (seven), Police Memorial Park (eight), Bill Briare Park (four), Lorenzi Park (four), Patriot Park (two), Justice Myron Leavitt & Jaycee Community Park (four), and Aloha Shores Park (four). The city encourages everyone to learn the basics, join a league, or participate in pop-up games. Youth sports are offered in both spring and fall, while adult leagues are open for registration now.
Las Vegas has become a hub for major-league sports, hosting teams such as the Vegas Golden Knights who won the Stanley Cup in 2023, according to the official history page. The city annually attracts more than 41 million visitors and maintains about 130 parks and facilities, according to the official website.
Las Vegas operates under a council-manager government structure with an elected mayor and city council, according to the official government page. Established as a railroad rest stop due to its water availability in 1905, Las Vegas now covers 142 square miles in Nevada according to its official history page and official website.
As interest in recreational activities continues to grow alongside professional sports achievements in Las Vegas, city officials expect strong participation in pickleball programs this season.
