Dina Titus, U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district since 2013, posted a series of statements on her social media accounts addressing recent global tragedies and expressing solidarity with affected communities.

On December 14, 2025, Titus responded to the deaths of American service members in Syria. She wrote, “My heart goes out to the families of the two U.S. soldiers and interpreter killed in Syria. Their tragic deaths underscore how dangerous this region remains and how we must continue to work with our partners to secure lasting peace in the region.”

Later that day, Titus commented on an incident in Australia. On December 14, she posted: “I am heartbroken by the shooting that took place in Sydney earlier today. This violent act of hatred is NEVER acceptable, and I strongly condemn antisemitism. My thoughts are with the Jewish community, the victims, their families, and the people of Australia. They should not have”

On December 15, 2025, as Hanukkah began, Titus offered words for her constituents and others globally: “As we begin Hanukkah, may this week bring everyone #OnlyinDistrictOne and around the world some light in this time of darkness.”

Titus has represented Nevada’s 1st District since replacing Shelley Berkley in 2013 after serving two decades in the Nevada Senate from 1988 to 2008. Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1950 and now residing in Las Vegas, she holds a BA from College of William & Mary (Fact sources: [1](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/T000468), [2](https://titus.house.gov/about), [3](https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics-and-government/dina-titus-biography-1162086/) ).
