Dina Titus, U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district since 2013, posted a series of statements on social media addressing two pressing issues: the risk of a government shutdown and concerns about human rights violations involving Turkish authorities.

On September 3, 2025, Titus wrote, “A government shutdown looms because of @POTUS and @HouseGOP’s inability to work across the aisle to create a bipartisan funding package. We must work together before September 30th to make sure our agencies are fully funded and that Americans get the benefits they need.”

The following day, she reiterated the urgency around congressional action with another post dated September 4: “This month, all eyes are on September 30th, the deadline for Congress to pass a government funding bill. #TitusTalk”

In addition to domestic legislative concerns, Titus also addressed international human rights issues in her September 4 post: “The unlawful arrest of five Greek-Cypriots by the Turkish authorities for visiting their ancestral homes is cruel and politically motivated. I led a letter to @SecRubio urging the State Department to hold Turkey accountable for this and its many human rights violations against”

Titus has served as the representative for Nevada’s 1st district since replacing Shelley Berkley in 2013. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Nevada Senate from 1988 until 2008. Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1950 and currently residing in Las Vegas, Titus holds a BA from the College of William & Mary.
