Dina Titus, U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district since 2013, recently shared updates and reflections on her official Twitter account, addressing affordable housing challenges in Southern Nevada, honoring a late colleague, and marking Mother’s Day.

On May 8, Titus wrote about her participation in a local housing event: “#TeamTitus attended Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority’s 4th Annual Affordable Housing Forum to address the challenges facing homebuyers and renters #OnlyInDistrictOne.”

The following day, she expressed condolences over the loss of a former legislative colleague: “I am saddened to hear about the passing of Joyce Woodhouse, who I served with in the Nevada State Legislature. She was a fierce champion for our students and teachers and just a lovely person. We need more like her in politics.” This statement was posted on May 9.

On May 10, Titus acknowledged Mother’s Day with a personal message: “Happy Mother’s Day. Cherish your times together, thank her for her sacrifices, and remember her smile. You’ll miss her when she’s gone.”

Titus has been active in public service for decades. Before joining Congress in 2013 after succeeding Shelley Berkley as representative for Nevada’s 1st district (source), she served in the Nevada Senate from 1988 to 2008 (source). Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1950 and currently residing in Las Vegas (source), Titus graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970.
