Dina Titus, U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district since 2013, used her social media platform to criticize recent Republican budget proposals and their impact on federal safety net programs. In a series of posts on September 4 and 5, Titus expressed concern over potential cuts to healthcare and assistance programs.
On September 4, Titus wrote, “No rebrand will change the fact that the Republican Budget is BS. @POTUS and @HouseGOP are slashing safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP and are hurting every day, hardworking Americans.”
The following day, she commented briefly on the economic situation with a post stating, “Call it the #TrumpSlump.” (September 5).
Later on September 5, Titus addressed healthcare coverage concerns: “Throughout the next ten years, over 10 million people will lose their healthcare coverage because of @POTUS’s BS Budget. I joined Care in Action Nevada and @IndivisibleLV calling out Trump and his policies leaving Americans sicker and without the help they need.”
Titus has served as a member of Congress for Nevada’s 1st District since replacing Shelley Berkley in 2013. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Nevada Senate from 1988 to 2008. Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1950, Titus currently resides in Las Vegas. She holds a BA from the College of William & Mary.
