Dina Titus, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada’s 1st district since 2013, used her social media platform on April 8, 2026, to criticize recent economic and budgetary decisions by the current administration.
In a post from the afternoon of April 8, Titus wrote: “While @POTUS’s economy struggles to create jobs, he wants to eliminate safety net programs like the @DOLJobCorps that help Americans find work. #FY27Budget https://t.co/3RBuClRYdR”. She voiced concerns over proposed cuts to federal job training initiatives amid what she described as ongoing challenges in national job creation.
Later that day, Titus addressed funding for a planned monument in Washington D.C., stating: “After claiming that this grandiose project would be paid for by private donors, @POTUS now wants to use taxpayer dollars, taken from funding for the humanities, to pay for his arch in Washington. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Humanities Caucus, I am strongly opposed to this.” Her comments reflect opposition to reallocating funds from humanities programs toward infrastructure projects she deems nonessential.
In another message posted shortly after, Titus highlighted local economic issues: “Today @ZConine and I hosted a round table with small businesses to discuss the impact of #TrumpTariffs. I will continue working in Congress to support our local economy #OnlyInDistrictOne and fight against @POTUS’s disastrous policies that are raising costs. @HCC_Nevada https://t.co/dIcRwNxCa1”. She referenced a meeting with Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine and local entrepreneurs regarding tariffs and their effect on business costs.
Titus has represented Nevada’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Shelley Berkley in 2013 and previously served two decades in the Nevada Senate. Born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1950 and currently residing in Las Vegas at age 72, Titus holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary earned in 1970.
