“The Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit is a special event that brings students and local leaders together to share their experiences and learn from one another,” Commissioner McCurdy said. “I am honored to host this great event, and see our community’s future leaders engage in thoughtful and discussions about some of the real-world challenges they will face.”
More than 250 students from 10 area high schools attended the leadership summit, which featured workshops focused on money management, civic engagement, and entrepreneurship. The summit also featured keynote speaker Lt. Gov. Lisa Cano Burkhead.
More than 4,000 students have attended the summits over the years, taking advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from local leaders. The event is organized by Commissioner McCurdy and scheduled to fall during Hispanic Heritage Month.
The participating students were selected by their schools to attend the summit. The high schools sending students to the event include Advanced Technologies Academy, Cheyenne, Canyon Springs, Desert Pines, Rancho, Western, West Preparatory Academy, Mater Academy, Legacy, and Democracy Prep at the Agassi Campus.
