City To Host Virtual Conference Focused on Children’s Academic Success

Registration is open now for a virtual conference on strategies for academic success, presented by the Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance Tuesday-Wednesday, Jan. 24-25, 8 a.m.-noon PST. Registration for day one of the conference may be submitted at https://cityoflasvegas.link/MBK23Day1, and for day two at https://day2lvmbk2023conference

This is the seventh annual Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Conference, and this year’s theme is “Level Up.” The conference will include national experts, legislators, school administrators, law enforcement, educators, social services providers, clinicians, advocates and other community stakeholders.

Speakers and presenters include: Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman; Councilman Cedric Crear; Congressman Steven Horsford: Clark County School District Superintendent Jesus Jara; Jack Martin; Kaya Henderson; Colin Seale; and Brian Heat. In addition, The Tyrone Thompson Yours in Service Award will be presented to Lady Ak Edmondson, the Public Service Award to retired Clark County School District Police Officer Ken Young and the

Champion of Education Award to Jordan Hankins.

The Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is a community collaboration, with three task forces that work to engage the community, promote optimal educational outcomes, and improve law enforcement systems and programs
