The University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ (UNLV) director of Annual Giving for the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement is leading efforts to help secure donations for the school’s departments.

Megan Black is spearheading efforts that include Giving Tuesday, UNLV’s Rebels Give, organizing the UNLV faculty and staff holiday card tree, and employee gifting; a recent news release from the university said.

“Aside from Giving Tuesday, which just wrapped up, we’ve been trying to find ways to make giving to UNLV easier and showing that every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact,” Black said in the release.

Fundraising and recognition initiatives have led her to be optimistic about the challenge of securing donations even when the job seems daunting.

“Nothing is worse for fundraising than a complicated donation process,” Black said. “We recently completed the process for UNLV Foundation to accept digital payments through Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Android Pay for crowdfunding donations, we launched an online employee payroll deduction form, and we’re always striving to streamline the donation process through the Rebel Raiser portal and online.”

Black added that Rebel Legacy, a new program for students that gives them the opportunity to donate a financial amount equal to the year they graduate—for example, $20.23 for the year 2023—will allow those students who participate to wear a generosity cord at graduation.
