Better Nevada PAC said on May 6 that Governor Joe Lombardo’s bipartisan education reforms and expansion of school choice have led to clear improvements in Nevada schools, according to a statement on X.
The announcement comes as the debate over education policy intensifies in the Nevada gubernatorial race. The PAC contrasted Lombardo’s record with Attorney General Aaron Ford’s recent travels abroad and his Students Success agenda, which focuses on online safety, school meals, and vocational training. The exchange highlights differing approaches to K-12 education as voters consider each candidate’s priorities, according to Better Nevada PAC’s official account on X.
Recent data show that nearly a third of Nevada schools improved their star ratings in the latest Nevada School Performance Framework. In Clark County School District, 136 schools saw improved ratings, with 48 earning the top 5-star designation—up from 28 the previous year. Statewide, the share of 5-star schools rose to 17 percent from 11.2 percent, while the proportion of 1-star schools dropped to 16.3 percent from 27.1 percent, according to The Nevada Independent.
Nevada’s K-12 system has historically ranked near the bottom nationally in key metrics such as reading and math proficiency. However, state investments and reforms since 2023 have driven measurable gains in school star ratings and outcomes across districts. These improvements reflect efforts to address longstanding challenges in student achievement and resource allocation, according to The Nevada Independent.
Better Nevada PAC describes itself as a political action committee dedicated to supporting Governor Joe Lombardo and advancing policies that strengthen education, school choice, and opportunities for families in the state. Operating as the Nevada War Room, it communicates directly with voters about issues including education reform and government accountability, according to Better Nevada PAC.
